Quality Engineer Summary
A manufacturer of plastic products for a variety of industries is currently seeking a Quality Engineer to join their staff in greater Detroit. The Quality Engineer will be the point person for the entire Quality system. This position will develop and refine the quality checking procedures and develop solutions to rectify manufacturing issues. This position offers competitive compensation and a good benefits package.
Detroit Quality Engineer Overview:
The Quality Engineer will direct the quality technicians and ensure that manufactured products meet ISO/TS standards. Prior experience in a quality role is incumbent for this position. The Quality Engineer should also have familiarity with customer contact, production part approval process (PPAP), Statistical Process Control (SPC), measurement system analysis (MSA), advanced product quality planning (APQP), failure mode effects analysis (FMEA), quality of service (QOS), Eight Disciplines problem solving, among other concepts.
Detroit Quality Engineer Job Opening
- Design layouts and perform quality tests on products in line with Production Part Approval Process.
- Perform tests on parts and products throughout the process, observing functional, dimensional, and physical properties.
- Develop, refine, and upkeep quality documents, documents on customer contact, customer sort reports, concerns and issues, procedures, and other details. Customer data should be kept and maintained in the customer database.
- Field concerns regarding product quality from both customers and internal personnel.
- Assist in new product launches, prototypes, and samples. Provide support as necessary.
- Serve as a member of troubleshooting/problem solving teams, or initiate teams to identify how quality issues are being caused.
- Visit customers to assist and field concerns while building and improving relationships.
- Ensure that all personnel follow internal safety policies and OSHA mandated safety procedures.
- Follow and promote company policies and procedures such as quality manuals, handbooks, and procedures.
- Keep a safe and clean working environment.
- Direct quality technicians and voice concerns to appropriate personnel.
Quality Engineer (Detroit Area) Job Requirements:
- A degree in some technical discipline.
- Previous experience as a quality engineer.
- Able to use computers comfortably and able to learn new programs.
- Familiar with quality management principles.
- Deep familiarity with measurement tools and testing methods.
- Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal. Able to produce reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals. Able to communicate with personnel clearly internally and externally.
- Advanced knowledge of mathematical principles such as squares, square roots, standard deviation, and formulas.
- Able to read blueprints and instructions easily.
