  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this job.
  • Understanding of GD&T standards, experience with tight tolerance products is preferable for this job.
  • Able to work with little direction, but not adverse to supervision.
  • Able to program 5-axis machines.
  • At least three years of programming experience, preferably with the programs Mastercam or Esprit.
  • An advanced knowledge of cutting tools and understanding of when tools need to be changed as well as what tools are best for certain functions.
  • Able to identify quality and non-conformance issues on small parts.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of trigonometry.
  • Able to write G&M codes while on the job.
  • Familiarity with Fanuc and Mitsubishi machine controls.
  • Vericut job experience preferable.
  • Advanced programming knowledge (macro b programming, offset error checking) preferable for this job.

Operations – Project Management Director Detroit Michigan

A company renowned for its highly engineered products is seeking a well-experienced individual with the ability to balance many tasks at once.

Overview:

This position entails directing and organizing the activities of the supply chain department as well as the activity involved in the assembly of products. This person is also responsible for managing all aspects of customer order information. The operations and project management director is also required to prepare periodic reports when required.

Primary Job Duties:

  • Directs the activities of supply chain, assembly/installation and training to meet requirements made by clients while having a budget at or below target and making on-time deliveries.
  • Project management for all company products.
  • Working efficiently with Engineering department to improve and develop the makeup of the product.
  • Responsible for the support of revenue plans to meet specific goals by balancing budget creation, expense management and staff levels.
  • Works directly with a team to manage all aspects of inventory development.
  • Implementing processes for the assembly that result in cost reduction and reduced assembly time.
  • Coordinates installation schedules for products by preparing work sites and working closely with client personnel.
  • Responsible for training client personnel in correct use of all products a well as managing installation of such product kits.
  • Use of the business system & other instruments to develop order fulfillment processes for company products from the start of ordering through the installation of the product.
  • Use of business system & other instruments to develop project management processes.
  • Creating and if necessary developing safe and healthy work environment for staff which includes:
    • Creating, maintaining & enforcing safety policies
    • Creating, maintaining & enforcing visitor policies
    • Creating, maintaining & enforcing safety training programs
  • Managing every aspect of the warehouse facility including:
    • Contracted services
    • Maintenance & repair of specific equipment
    • Communicating with regulatory agencies
  • In order to attain objectives candidate must be able to communicate with customers, sales, engineering, procurement, and other personnel.
  • Develops an adequate staff with high motivation and ability to train them well, while complying with company policies.
  • Establishes succession plans for all levels within departments reporting to the position.
  • Human resource activities related to annual performance, goal setting, vacation management, career development plans.
  • Keeps VP of Operations up to date with all facility and project status.
  • Establishes relationships when required with clients or vendors.
  • Presents product and/or process presentations with clients.
  • Maintains knowledge of the profession and new technology by:
    • Keeping status with professional publications
    • Participating in societies related with the profession
    • Ability to network internally and externally
    • Training with staff, suppliers and vendors
  • If requested, individual must be willing to participate in regional, national, and international shows, trade associations and business expos to expand network.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • At least 5 years of machining, manufacturing, or machine tooling knowledge of:
    • Machine tool and cutting tool design, build and applications
    • Knowledge in advanced machining processes such as HMC, HBM, HTC, and VTC machining used in large manufacturing industries
    • Ability to read blueprint and GD&T
  • Able to effectively measure manufacturing productivity using correct metrics.
  • Previous experience in or ability to present information and carry on conversation about projects with groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
  • Problem solving with a variety of variables in situations where only one limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to read and interpret financial statements including; cost center, profit/loss, balance sheet, and cash flow.
  • Overall understanding of company products with simple understanding of assembly, testing, and installation.
  • No relocation assistance is provided—must live in greater Detroit area.

Education And/or Experience:

Preferably a Bachelor’s degree from a 4 year college or university, or 2-5 years experience in the field or training, or any combination of the education and experience.

Language Skills

Candidate must be able to read, analyze and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations. Writing ability is required to complete reports on projects or operations, business correspondence, data, and operation manuals. The general ability to present all the information you compiled and answer questions about it when needed.

Computer Skills

In order to carry on day-to-day activities, individual must be able to have knowledge and some sort of background in Microsoft Office programs such as Spreadsheet, Word, PowerPoint, and business system software.
