The Senior Die Designer will serve as a mentor and leader to other die design personnel at the Detroit, Michigan site. The Senior Die Designer will serve as a stamping die expert for the company and will be expected to provide guidance and solutions with all die related issues or projects. This Detroit, Michigan job will require a lot of hands on design work and strong CAD skills.

Detroit Senior Die Designer Job Opening

• Collaborate with all appropriate staff at the Detroit, Michigan site to develop the proper design for each die.
• The Senior Die Designer will utilize CAD software, particularly Unigraphics NX, to design stamping dies.
• Analyze design specifications to develop the proper die for each project.
• Maintain a record of all die designs including their specifications and applications.
• Mentor junior design staff, providing them with coaching, feedback, and suggestions for designs.
• The Senior Die Designer will develop a training program for design staff at the Detroit, Michigan site.
• Evaluate and improve existing die designs.
• The Senior Die Designer must identify areas where cost saving measures could be implemented.
• Collaborate with manufacturing staff to analyze processes and identify areas of improvement.
• Provide feedback on machinery for orders, make recommendations for new machinery or improvements to machinery.
• Partner with quality staff to identify systematic defects and rectify them.
• Maintain knowledge of industry innovations and trends through membership in professional organizations, reading industry journals/periodicals, attending classes/workshops, as well as other professional improvement practices.

Senior Die Designer (Detroit Area) Job Requirements:

• A bachelor’s or associate’s degree in a technical discipline is required for this job.
• Exceptional level of experience with CAD design, specifically Unigraphics-NX.
• Several years of job experience designing metal stamping dies.
• Past metal forming job experience.
• Understanding of quality control processes and auditing standards.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent computer skills, thorough understanding of Microsoft office programs such as word, outlook, and excel as well as design and database software.
• Journeyman or master die maker certification is strongly preferred.
• Able to mentor others while on the job.
