The Detroit Quality Assurance Officer will report directly to the Quality Assurance Manager at the company’s global headquarters in Detroit, Michigan. The Quality Assurance Officer shall be in charge of creating and implementing quality procedures for all North American operations. Ideal job candidates will have several years of job experience in Quality and have job experience updating or creating protocols.

Detroit Quality Assurance Officer Job Opening

  • The Quality Assurance Officer will create and upkeep the quality procedures at each location as it relates to inbound items, warehousing, repacking, and transloading.
  • Use data gathered from suppliers to forecast the available products compared to customer requirements outside of the greater Detroit area.

  • Utilize a multitude of measurement and inspection tools including but not limited to calipers, mics, bore and height gages.
  • The Quality Inspector will utilize a coordinate measurement machine in quality tests.

  • The Quality Inspector must partner with customers and suppliers to mitigate any quality issues and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee the gage calibration and maintenance program. Calibrate some hand tools, and keep record of where all tools and gages are stored in the company system. Serve as a liaison for others performing calibration when necessary.
  • The Quality Inspector must collaborate with manufacturing staff when nonconformities are discovered, complete nonconformance reports and corrective action requests, provide input on solutions to improve quality.
  • Serve as an assistant to the the quality manager at the Detroit, Michigan site.
  • The Quality Inspector will furnish customers with certifications and data as necessary.
  • Assist in the ISO Certification process. Assist in the third party audit at the Detroit, Michigan plant.
  • Perform internal audits on equality to ensure standards are met.
  • The Quality Inspector must assist in new part planning.
  • The Quality Inspector must field customer complaints, document complaints and action taken in the company system.
Quality Inspector (Detroit Area) Job Requirements:

  • For the job, the Supplier Development Engineer must evaluate and determine that suppliers meet the proper ISO quality standards.
  • Organize and perform supplier audits, as well as other evaluations to improve the supplier relationship and product quality at the Detroit plant.
  • Partner with product development staff during planning job phases to acquire materials for prototypes.
  • Assist product development with selecting suppliers for the mass production of the product out of Detroit, Michigan.
  • The Supplier Development Engineer must assist in primary quality tests and ensure components meet the company’s supplier standards.
  • Ensure that products arrive from suppliers on time, rectify any shipment errors, and evaluate the supplier relationship if errors occur frequently.
  • Assist in determining corrective actions with suppliers when products are defective.
  • Collaborate with other departments to rectify component part problems for different jobs.
  • Assist sourcing in selecting new suppliers, both locally in Michigan and nationally, as necessary.
  • Provide feedback to suppliers and to management to improve the supplier development job process.
  • Serve as primary point of contact between the product development/engineering teams and the suppliers.
Supplier Development Engineer (Detroit Area) Job Requirements:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a science or business discipline, or a substituted six years of experience is required for this job.
  • Two years of related Supplier Development professional experience.
  • Previous exposure to and understanding of manufacturing and quality assurance/control would greatly benefit this job.
  • Strong understanding of APQP, PPAP, statistical concepts such as probability and using statistics to determine quality and defects, and other quality control tools.
  • Able to understand business documents, technical manuals, blue prints, and all other materials that may be encountered on the job.
  • Able to interpret mathematical formulas.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
