  • Build and foster strong professional relationships with suppliers in and outside of Jackson, Michigan.
  • Perform sourcing projects on different suppliers, identifying new sources, different products, competitors, advantages of said sources.
  • Plan and organize the APQP/PAPP activity with suppliers with supplies coming into the Jackson, Michigan facility.
  • The Supplier Quality Engineer shall document when products are received from suppliers outside of Jackson.
  • Receive initial samples, verify capability, perform testing, and prepare launch activities inside the Jackson, Michigan plant.
  • The Supplier Quality Engineer shall identify and document when parts received from a supplier are nonconforming.
  • When there are non-conformances, complete the failure notice, RCA, corrective action, and reports to the supplier.
  • Plan and carry out audits on suppliers for all new model launches.
  • The Supplier Quality Engineer will plan and carry out audits on suppliers when quality problems are consistent.
  • Effectively communicate quality issues to suppliers.
  • For this job, the Supplier Quality Engineer perform yearly evaluations of supplier relationships, determine whether it is appropriate to maintain the supplier relationship or identify a new source.
Supplier Quality Engineer (Jackson Area) Job Requirements:
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s of science degree in engineering, mechanical engineering degree or industrial engineering would be preferred for this job.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, word, outlook, powerpoint).
  • A minimum of between two and five years of experience in a quality engineering job in an automotive-industry related company.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Attention to detail; able to create, implement, and maintain systems.
  • Thorough record-keeping sensibilities of supplies coming in and out of the Jackson, Michigan plant.
  • Understanding of HVAC systems or experience working for an HVAC company would be beneficial.

Detroit Director of Quality Overview: 

The Director of Quality will be directing all of the quality assurance functions of the Detroit, Michigan manufacturing plant for this job. He or she will need to establish a quality assurance system that complies with organizational goals as well as customer job specifications and demands. Additionally, the Director of Quality will need to champion continuous improvement efforts down all levels of the quality assurance department at the Detroit plant. The Director of Quality is going to have several direct reports and will be leading the entire Detroit, Michigan quality department. The Director of Quality will report directly to the organization’s Director of Operations, who is also based in Detroit, Michigan.
