  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering (Mechanical) is required for this job.
  • A minimum of eight years of job experience or a higher level of education and training with a mix of job experience.
  • Car building or other railroad experience is preferable but is not a suitable substitute for an Engineering degree.
  • Demonstrated capacity to read, understand, and interpret journals of a technical or scientific nature, financial reports, legal documents, field manuals, standards and practices manuals, and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to field customer complaints or questions, regulatory inquiries, or other such queries. Able to prepare presentations or articles within a certain format.
  • Exceptional math and engineering skills. Demonstrated ability to perform stress and rain calculations, strength tests, and other analyses.

  • A 4-year Bachelor’s Degree is required for this job.
  • CPM/APICS certificate is also a big plus for this job.
  • Adept knowledge of Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) materials.
  • At least 5 years of job experience purchasing indirect materials or management of a storeroom/tool crib.
  • Job experience plotting strategic sourcing initiatives and opportunities.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Powerpoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook.

The National Quality Director will work with customers to ensure the quality standards are above expectations. Additionally, the Chicago National Quality director will work with suppliers to ensure proper quality management systems are followed for all supplied materials.

  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction through ensuring adherence to quality standards for raw materials, process, and finish good quality programs.
  • Ensure the products are durable to maintain and improve bard reputation.
  • The Chicago National Quality Director will research and utilize technology platforms to improve organizational and operational efficiency.
  • Guarantee the company and component organizations work to satisfy the voice of the customer.
  • Ensure quality and process improvement initiative are aligned with the strategic goals of the organization.
  • Plan and implement quality systems to meet and exceed the strategic goals of the organization.
National Quality Director (Chicago Area) Job Requirements:
  • A bachelors degree in engineering, operations, science, business, or a related field.
  • An advanced degree would be preferred for this position.
  • At least ten years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • At least five years overseeing a quality system or in a process improvement role.
  • At least five years experience managing a staff in multiple locations.
  • Exceptional leadership skills.
  • Great communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent understanding of quality management systems and auditing procedures.
  • Lean/Six Sigma training, green or black belt certification preferred.
