Buyer Detroit Overview:
The Buyer must negotiate terms with vendors and prices and will schedule delivery by leveraging budget knowledge and production requirements. The Buyer will need to conduct supplier and vendor research to discern preferred suppliers, both on a national basis and local to the metro Detroit, Michigan area. The Buyer will be in constant communication with vendors and suppliers to drive down costs and strengthen relationships with them. The Buyer will work out of the metro Detroit, Michigan location and be a part of the purchasing department and will report directly to the company’s Purchasing Supervisor.

- The Buyer will procure and manage supplier deals that are tied into company production materials and additional services that outside suppliers may provide.
- The role must come up with solutions to advance procurement activities and plans, as the company prides itself on continuous improvement.
- The Buyer must take prices, cost drivers, and variances in the production process while working out of the greater Detroit, Michigan plant.
- There is about 20% travel in and outside of the metro Detroit, Michigan area required for this job.
- This position will take on any additional duties as assigned by the Purchasing Supervisor.
Buyer (Detroit Area) Job Requirements:
- A four-year degree in a business or supply chain field is required for this job.
- A minimum of one year of purchasing experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to improve vendor relationships is an essential part of this job.
