Chicago Shift Manager Overview:
The Chicago Shift manager oversees the production activities within an assigned department of the facility. The shift manage shall report to the production manager or the plant manager. The Shift manager is responsible for reaching objectives in production, safety, quality, and employee engagement categories. The shift manager will ensure that employees within the assigned area are adequately trained in the manufacturing processes of the area.

- The Chicago Shift Manager will ensure that all safety and quality procedures and protocols are followed by the production team within the assigned area.
- Work with the plant and production manager to develop annual goals and facility objectives concerning the budget, staff, and productivity.
- Manage, direct, and develop the production personnel in conformance with all company practices, procedures, and policies.
- The Chicago Shift Manager will ensure that production activities meet customer expectations regarding quality and deadline for delivery.
- Interface with maintenance staff to ensure maintenance and preventative maintenance is regularly performed to minimize downtime and avoid mechanical failures.
- Take part in the scale ups and product launches for new products.
Shift Manager (Chicago Area) Job Requirements:
- A minimum of a high school diploma and five years of manufacturing supervisory experience.
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university would be preferred for this position.
- Good communications skills, both written and verbal (in person and over the phone).
- A proven ability to supervise, lead, and develop a manufacturing staff.
- Great problem solving and logical reasoning skills.
- Good organizational skills as well as the ability to plan for deadlines.
- Proven ability to reach company objectives through implementing new policies and procedures.
- Good math skills, able to perform basic calculations, and use a calculator or a spreadsheet for more complex calculations.
- Experienced with process improvement tools.
- A high level of business acumen.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office suite of programs and other business software.
