Detroit Engineer Overview:
The Detroit Engineer will design and develop products and components for customers based on their specifications and applications for the project. The Detroit Engineer will collaborate with customer stakeholders as well as internal engineering colleagues to improve product designs and solve issues. The Detroit Engineer will work on individual design and re-design projects. Additionally, this position will work on larger projects with a team of engineers and other personnel.

- The Detroit Engineer will receive product specifications and information on its application and develop component designs as well as full assembly designs to meet customers’ standards.
- Develop and test products and components that comply with customer requirements and specifications.
- Develop and test components within products such as motors, structures, pressure vessels, and bearings.
- The Detroit Engineer will test and validate that products and components comply with the standards of external agencies.
- Complete individual product design projects and individual testing projects.
- Serve on larger team projects, perform assigned tasks, and assist project staff with completing tasks to keep the project on schedule.
- Coordinate with personnel across departments to ensure the projects are completed on time.
Engineer (Detroit Area) Job Requirements:
- A four year degree in the field of mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university.
- At least three years of engineering experience in the HVAC industry.
- Familiar and comfortable with the Microsoft Office Suite of Programs such as Word, Power Point, Excel, Project, and Outlook.
- A high level of familiarity with the principles of mechanical theory and practice.
- Exceptional technical understanding of HVAC systems or the ability to attain a deep understanding.
- Understanding of the design and application of HVAC components.
- Familiar with typical standards and specifications used in the HVAC industry.
- Strong understanding of engineering disciplines.
- Familiar with APQP principles.
- Proven ability to successfully manage projects.
- Able to coordinate and lead meetings with both internal colleagues as well as vendors and customers.
- Able to perform evaluations of processes and materials.
- Understanding of product benchmarking.
