Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement lean manufacturing methods
  • Participate in Elimination of Waste Team meetings
  • Support the Company’s Vision
  • Develop objectives for inventory, freight costs, performance of the supply chain, training of the department. Lean manufacturing and 5S activities. Keep an eye on progress, and implement corrective procedures  where necessary to meet goals
  • Participate in building business plans and cost reduction to meet company goals
  • Develop in-depth procedures for every aspect of the material control
  • Develop yearly training for direct reports
  • Forecast potential business issues and/or supply constraints, work with various teams to develop recovery and escalation methods
  • Participate in the APQP process, manage ramp up of new work/ramp down of current production to service levels while working closely with outside suppliers and internal production, quality and engineering teams
  • Aid resource management by providing at least a 26 week customer shipping forecast.
  • Management duties for SAP to include system implementation and maintenance for production planning and production control
  • Implement requirements for material releases for the supply base using Material Requirements Planning; oversee supplier schedules and performance of the supply chain
  • Act as the Head Internal Auditor for TS 16949
  • Report Systems Auditor conclusions at various Goals and Objectives Meetings
  • Perform other assignments as given by the Operations Manager

Reporting Relationships:

  • Primarily reports to the Operations Manager
  • Material Control Coordinator and Shipping/Receiving Staff both report to the Manager of Materials

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • In-depth knowledge of inventory management, supply chain and customer specific delivery systems
  • Must be able to work ethically
  • Knowledge of a fast-paced automotive environment is essential
  • Advanced communication skills are needed for internal and client communication, as well as supplier contact
  • Ability to work necessary overtime is expected
