Lansing Drafter Overview:
The Lansing Drafter works closely with engineering and design personnel to develop engineering documents. The Lansing Drafter will create drawings and models for assemblies, piece parts, and weldments. The Drafter will need to possess a familiarity with mechanical drafting practices as well as an understanding of engineering jargon. The ability to calculate basic math and understand the basics of mechanics is necessary.
Lansing Drafter Job Opening
- The Lansing Drafter will receive 3-D Models from engineering and design personnel, then create piece part, weldment, and assembly drawings.
- Interface with engineering and design personnel to process and implement change orders as necessary.
- Obtain prints and deliver printed copies of engineering documentation to production personnel.
- The Lansing Drafter will develop 3-D models for add-on components as directed by engineering or design personnel.
- Provide assistance to engineering or design personnel with projects as requested and necessary.
- Obtain and deliver required technical documents for production staff as requested.
- The Lansing Drafter will be required to keep documentation of and maintain files of designs and design changes.
- Perform other duties as directed and as necessary.
Drafter (Lansing Area) Job Requirements:
- A two year degree from a college or a technical school is necessary for this job, or alternatively a year of drafting experience, or alternatively a combination of education and experience.
- A high level of familiarity with CAD as well as 3D modeling software. Also, able to develop 2D drawings. AutoCAD and Solidworks experience preferred.
- Familiar with PC’s as well as the Microsoft Office suite of products (word, excel, access, and powerpoint)
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Able to read, understand and interpret technical documents and drawings.
- A decent level of understanding of metal assembly, welding, and fabrication.
- A detail oriented mindset.
- Strong, rational, problem solving skills.
- Able to perform tasks with little supervision, a high level of motivation.
