The Purchasing Director is responsible for leading development and implementation of global, national and regional purchasing strategies with the goal of minimizing total business costs for all processes. This job entails influencing purchasing strategies and processes through frequent communication with global staff. The Purchasing Director leads the purchasing team including all Purchasing Managers, Regional Commodity Buyers and Supplier Development Engineers by setting goals and giving direction while monitoring all progress through regular meetings and correspondence. This job requires developmental coaching for subordinate members of the purchasing team in order to optimize progress and cost efficiency.

Purchasing Director (Detroit Area) Job Requirements:
- This job requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

- The Purchasing Director must have 10 years of automotive experience.
- 5 years of purchasing or logistics automotive experience is preferred.
- The Purchasing Director must be free to travel regionally and internationally.
- Any appropriate professional certifications are preferred.
- This job requires Fluent English to communicate within the Global Organization.
- The Purchasing Director must be able to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
