Grand Rapids Engineering Manager Overview:
The Grand Rapids Engineering Manager will plan and lead the execution of process improvement projects within the facility. The Engineering Manager’s main goal will be to make production more effective while also reducing costs. The engineering manager will direct the activities of the engineering staff, create a bills of materials, and direct the project. The Engineering Manager will also take part in creating new products and improving the design of currently offered products.
Grand Rapids Engineering Manager Job Opening:
- The Grand Rapids Engineering Manager will train engineering personnel, maintain records of personnel performance, provide employee feedback regularly, and make suggestions on areas of improvement to develop staff in the engineering department.
- Interface with production and marketing personnel to gather design specifications for new products as well as details to improve current products.
- Research and select suppliers to produce materials, evaluate materials based on cosmetic and functional considerations.
- The Grand Rapids Engineering Manager will keep data within the MRP system especially approving modifications of the parts master list, approving changings to bills of materials lists, approving Engineering Change Requests, in addition to other taskes.
- Modify existing products to fit price constraints.
- Plan, lead, and oversee process improvement projects.
- Create and administer the process engineering annual budget.
- Take part in the hiring and onboarding of all engineering staff.
Engineering Manager (Grand Rapids Area) Job Requirements:
- A four year degree in the field of engineering from an accredited university.
- Five to ten years of engineering experience.
- Process engineering experience in an automotive manufacturing facility.
- Two to four years experience in a management role.
- A proven history of leading cost reducing and process improvement projects.
- A strong familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- A high level of familiarity with AutoCAD software.
- Previous experience with MRP and ERP systems.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- A high level of familiarity with interpreting technical documents.
- Ability to direct and develop a staff.
