Detroit Product Engineer Overview:
The Product Engineer is a key member of the engineering department and shall report directly to the engineering manager. The Detroit Product Engineer will develop new product designs and improve product designs for current lines. Product Engineers will serve on product teams as well as overseeing specific projects. Engineers design products and handle initial design through production and post production.

- Develop initial product plans and designs and recommend changes through out the development of a project.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within schedule.
- The Detroit Product Engineer will develop designs that are able to be manufactured in a cost efficient manner, and ensure they will be able to be developed in the facilities with the equipment on hand.
- Suggest alternative design options, data-based analysis, and other recommendations during the concept planning stage.
- The Detroit Product engineer will assist in selecting the most cost efficient, innovative, and high performance design.
- Schedule and lead in the testing processes to ensure all rules and regulations are followed.
- Work with the customer to ensure that all requirements are met in the product design.
- The Detroit Product Engineer shall perform other duties and complete other projects as directed by the engineering manager.
- Maintain an up to date knowledge of the industry and its trends.
Product Engineer (Detroit Area) Job Requirements:
- Experience designing automotive assemblies.
- A four year degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Three to five years of job experience as a product engineer for an automotive supplier or a similar job.
- Familiar with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), as well as design failure mode and effect analysis (DFMEA), and other engineering concepts and tools.
- Familiarity with FEA principles.
- Great written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable delivering presentations.
- Team oriented personality.
- Experience with CAD software and 3d modeling software.
- Proficient with computers, as well as Windows operating system and Microsoft Office.
