JMJ Phillip’s building materials industry recruiters are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Estimator for a job opening in the Buffalo, New York area. The Buffalo Estimator will be responsible for evaluating specifications and drawings ensuring a complete understanding of construction projects in order to make an accurate project bid. Furthermore, this job requires the further negotiation of vendor and subcontractor proposals. This role requires consistent interaction with the pre-construction teams to ensure all required materials are accounted for and the team is adequately prepared. Buffalo Estimator Overview:

An Estimator is needed in the Buffalo, New York area. This job requires the facilitation and supervision of all construction project bidding. The Buffalo Estimator will be required to maintain, review, and understand multiple project plans and their specifications. The ideal candidate will be comfortable ensuring all aspects of the project are under full compliance. Furthermore, this job requires the ability to accurately evaluate and obtain vendor and subcontractor pricing bids; focused on procuring the most suitable bids for each individual project. The Buffalo Estimator will be required to attend and participate in pre-bid, pre-construction, and post-bid meetings. Furthermore, this job requires the continued maintenance of all project related documentation and management of all changes in cost.

Our client, a globally recognized leader in medical device manufacturing, is seeking an accomplished Continuous Improvement & Lean Engineer to join their progressive team. This company serves numerous medical markets, including cardiac, neuromodulation, orthopedics, vascular, advanced surgical, and portable medical. Furthermore, they specialize in developing niche batteries for the energy, military, and environmental sectors.

Continuous Improvement & Lean Engineer Job Opening Responsibilities:

  1. Direct and coordinate Lean and Continuous Improvement engineering activities within the assigned area.
  2. Spearhead plant-wide and departmental performance improvement initiatives impacting cost, quality, safety, material flow, and productivity.
  3. Collaborate with operations to resolve complex issues effectively and ensure the sustainability of changes.
  4. Advance the Manufacturing Excellence culture based on the Integer Production System and its five system focus areas: Strategy Alignment, Leadership of Sustained Change, Standardization, Associate Engagement, and Systems & Process Optimization.
  5. Conduct training on lean principles and concepts to improve both manufacturing and office transactional processes.
  6. Facilitate cross-functional teams to conduct kaizen events and implement lean tools such as Cell Design, 5S, Standardized Work, SMED, Kanban, OEE, OE, and Material and Information Flow.
  7. Train and coach plant personnel to independently conduct lean and CI activities.
  8. Collaborate with operations teams to identify, quantify and track cost reduction opportunities.
  9. Guide associates in applying structured problem-solving techniques.
  10. Collaborate with plant leadership to define, develop, and deploy best manufacturing practices across the site.
  11. Participate in the production plan development alongside other departmental representatives.
  12. Assist and coach operations in the implementation and maintenance of the Performance Measurement and Improvement Process (PMIP).

Continuous Improvement & Lean Engineer Job Opening Requirements:

  1. A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in an engineering field. Candidates with a science degree and solid lean experience will be considered.
  2. A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a Lean/Continuous Improvement role.
  3. Demonstrated ability to learn, retain, and apply knowledge.
  4. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and projects.
  5. Experience in analyzing current and future states processes.
  6. Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
  7. Self-driven and actively seeking out Continuous Improvement opportunities.

The Buffalo Operations manager will provide supervision, direction, and coaching to the manufacturing managers, engineering managers, and other direct reports. The Buffalo Operations Manager will work closely with the plant leadership team to establish production expectations and identify areas for improvement. The Buffalo Operations Manager will report to the Plant Manager. 

Buffalo Operations Manager Job Opening:

  • The Buffalo Operations Manager will direct production, maintenance, and engineering managers in day-to-day activities within the facility.
  • Ensure that work is assigned to meet all forecast goals.
  • Lead and develop presentations for management staff to communicate company goals and expectations.
  • The Buffalo Operations Manager will provide detailed direction to direct reports on the activity necessary to meet company goals.
  • Partner with senior manufacturing staff in selection and procurement of new equipment as necessary.
  • Provide annual evaluations to direct reports, make recommendations and taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • The Buffalo Operations Manager will participate in yearly planning meetings with senior staff within the facility to establish budgets and goals for the next fiscal year.
  • Assist plant manager with P&L responsibilities.

  • A four year degree in business, engineering, or a related area.
  • At least seven years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • At least four years of experience in an operations management role.
  • Excellent understanding of manufacturing finances.
  • Strong leadership tendencies, able to motivate others.
  • Proficient interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • An analytical mindset; able to solve operations, financial, and engineering issues with the help of other managers.
  • Experience in a Lean manufacturing environment.
  • Proven history as a team builder, able to foster a friendly, open working environment.
