Birmingham Detailer Overview:
The entry-level Birmingham, Alabama Detailer will partner with a senior engineer to learn the intricacies of various automation systems. The Birmingham Detailer will create detailed drawings of automation solutions based on technical specifications from clients. These drawings shall focus on the structural features to assist the fabrication team in the company’s manufacturing facility in Birmingham, Alabama.
Birmingham Detailer Job Opening
- The Detailer must transfer technical specifications and rough schematics into technical drawings and blueprints in AutoCAD software.
- Work with engineering staff to improve the structural assembly of material handling systems and conveyance solutions.
- Assist senior engineers in design and the early planning phases of material handling systems for clients in and outside of Birmingham, Alabama.
- Shadow a senior applications engineer when attaining information from customers in order to understand the customers’ needs.
- Check and improve technical drawings and blue prints, and resubmit them to the senior engineer for approval.
- Visit clients with the senior engineer on occasion to further understand their unique needs as necessary.
Detailer (Birmingham Area) Job Requirements:
- Job experience working with AutoCAD, at least a 2010 version.
- Job experience working with Architectural Desktop 2010 program would be preferred for this Birmingham job.
- Job experience working with Solid Edge, Inventor 2011, and other 3D software programs would be a strong plus .
- A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is required for this job. A technical degree in drafting with significant experience may be considered.
- An in-depth knowledge of structural steel parts.
- Great familiarity with conveyors, material handling, and automated production systems.
- Experience with Microsoft office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, and Outlook).
- Eager to work in a collaborative job with lots of on the job training.
- Five plus years of engineering job experience designing automated material handling solutions and conveyor systems. Machine tool industry detailing experience will also be considered.
- Willingness to work in a high-pace, results oriented environment.
- Good listening skills to understand the needs of each materials handling system or conveyor, and good communication skills in order to explain issues or insurmountable problems to engineering staff and clients.
