Chicago Logistics Manager Job Overview:
The Logistics Manager will report to the Sales Inventory and Operations Planning Manager and will organize and execute the warehouse and shipping functions for the Chicago, Illinois division. The Logistics Manager’s primary job responsibility will be managing the warehouse operations for the North American branch of the Chicago division. The Logistics Manager is also required to create goals and executive plans for the division of products.

- The Logistics Manager will work with Sales Inventory & Operations Planning Manager in developing, formulating, and implementing short-term and long range goals.
- Create a Warehousing Operational Dashboard which should include metrics and performance indicators to assist the process of regularizing operations to allow comparison.
- The Logistics Manager will collaborate with the Sales Inventory & Operations Planning Manager to create a performance management evaluation systems to critique and improve Chicago warehouse operations.
- Create and foster a relationship with a third-party-logistics warehouse in order to get the best rates for the company’s warehouse functions.
- The Logistics Manager will handle the stock requests and inventory across distribution warehouses so to minimize working capital and practical expenses.
- Maintain an environment of continuous improvement in the way processes are executed across Chicago warehouse functions.
- The Logistics Manager will oversee the process to ship and document intercompany orders to ease the transfer of product within the division.
- Oversee and lead employees in order to reach the goals of the shipping and warehouse teams in greater Chicago, Illinois.
- The Logistics Manager will spread safety awareness and ensure compliance with government and company safety regulations.
Logistics Manager (Chicago Area) Job Requirements:
- A 4-year degree from a college or university in business, marketing, supply chain operations, or related degree.
- Masters of Business Administration preferred for this job.
- Seven-plus years of experience working in an operation with multiple warehouses.
- Experience working in multiple US geographical locations.
- Seven-plus years of job experience in supply chain management.
- Previous experience in a supervisory job.
- A well-polished set of supply chain management skills.
- Thorough understanding of finance, business, and analytics.
- Exceptional computer skills especially with programs for word processing, spreadsheets, internet browsing, databases, ERP systems, presentations, and email.
- Exception verbal and written communications to assist with working with others in different functional areas.
- Great attention to detail is essential for this job.
- A demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to motivate and work with both exempt and non-exempt employees.
- Comfortable prioritizing tasks, managing complex projects, and balancing the focus between them.
- Lean Six Sigma or other process training preferred for this job.
