Overview: 

The Los Angeles VP of Supply Chain reports directly the CEO of the company. Los Angeles VP of Supply Chain Job Opening

  • Job experience building and managing every perspective of the company’s off-shore strategies, operations, and partnerships—particularly vendor relationships and relationships with contract manufacturing partners.
  • The VP of Supply Chain shall have a clear ability to oversee and foster a world class supply chain through strategic practices and procedures in order to reduce costs and maximize profit margins.
  • Partner with the CEO, management team, and board of directors to craft goals, product plans, and innovations.
  • The VP of Supply Chain shall oversee the supply chain’s new product introduction, product launch, production planning, pre-production planning, demand forecasting, obsolescence and end-of-life/life cycle management.
  • Work alongside the Engineering department to align product design and minimize costs.
  • Formulate a strategy and a vision to meet current and future demands of the manufacturing and supply chain operations so that Design for X processes are implemented consistently.
  • The VP of Supply Chain shall manage and foster relationships with key suppliers.
  • Consistently drive and improve productivity, quality, costs, and morale to the benefit of the overall company.

VP of Supply Chain (Los Angeles Area) Job Requirements:

  • Previous job experience as a Vice President of Supply Chain or as a Vice President of Procurement or operations for a high-volume, reliable, and cost-sensitive publicly traded company. Some industries that would be preferable would be power tools, consumer electronics, computer hardware, tier-one automotive, or contract manufacturing.
  • Job history of strategic and tactical planning techniques to improve a supply chain.
  • At least fifteen years of job experience selecting, qualifying, and negotiating with parts vendors.
  • Thorough understanding of outsourcing models and managing contract manufacturer relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience in negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Mastery of identifying the highest quality part vendors for the most reasonable cost.
  • An exceptional understanding of commodity markets and trends, especially in the glass, aluminum, steel, silver, and copper markets.
  • Familiarity with and deep knowledge of the most current quality systems.
  • History working with manufacturing in Asia is a strong preference.
  • Experience doing business in the Middle East, specifically the Arabian Peninsula is a strong plus for this job.
  • Knowledge of the most current trends and methods in packaging, shipping and logistics.
  • Comfortable with extensive travel outside of Los Angeles, California.

The Grand Rapids Senior Buyer will be a leader in the purchasing department. The Senior Buyer will be responsible for leading market research projects to identify new potential suppliers to provide materials for the best price without compromising quality. The Senior Buyer will also work with Quality and Engineering personnel to identify desirable suppliers.

Grand Rapids Senior Buyer Job Opening

  • The Grand Rapids Senior Buyer will negotiate pricing for materials and supplies with existing suppliers.
  • Research and investigate potential suppliers, make introductory calls and explore the abilities of the potential supplier.
  • Interface regularly with Engineering and Quality personnel to establish the necessary requirements for materials for current and new products.
  • The Grand Rapids Senior Buyer will take part in new product planning as necessary to estimate the cost of building prototypes and launch products.
  • Partner with the Purchasing Manager to enact new policies and procedures to meet company goals and objectives.
  • Ensure that all purchasing actions align with internal policies and standards regarding purchasing.
  • The Grand Rapids Senior Buyer will be responsible for remaining knowledgeable of the metals and fastener markets.
  • Assist in training new buyers and educating them about the metals market.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the purchasing manager.
Senior Buyer (Grand Rapids Area) Job Requirements:
  • A four year degree from an accredited university in business or a related field.
  • At least six years of experience purchasing metal materials and fasteners.
  • A background in the manufacturing industry.
  • Certified Purchasing Manager or APICS certification would be desired.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Familiar with the Microsoft Office Suite of programs, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • A high level of business acumen.
  • Familiarity of general materials suppliers.
  • Good leadership skills, comfortable working in a team as a senior member.
