Our client is currently seeking an experienced Optometrist to join their team. In this role, you will be providing low vision care to legally blind/visually impaired patients as part of the Visual Impairment Services Outpatient Rehabilitation (VISOR team) and managing a range of ocular conditions, diseases, and injuries. Optometrist Job Opening Responsibilities:
- Provide low vision care to legally blind/visually impaired patients as part of the VISOR team and collaborate on treatment plans.
- Independently examine, diagnose, treat, and manage ocular conditions, diseases, and injuries.
- Order appropriate laboratory and/or imaging studies.
- Prescribe ocular prosthetic devices (spectacles, contact lenses, prisms, artificial eyes and low vision aids).
- Provide consultative reports to requesting primary care physicians, staff, and specialists.
- Refer patients requiring care outside the scope of optometry practice.
- Supervise, educate, and train interns, residents, and ophthalmic trainees.
- Certify as a reader in Tele-retinal Imaging Program and as a Compensation and Pension (C&P) provider.
- Provide administrative support to service.
- Take part in optometry clinic patient assessment, follow-up visits, peer review, grand rounds, and strategic planning.
- Exercise corporate citizenship by serving as a leader and/or active member on Medical Center committees as requested.
Optometrist Job Opening Requirements:
- Optometry degree from an accredited institution.
- License to practice Optometry in the relevant state.
- Prior experience in a similar role is required.
- Comprehensive understanding of ocular conditions, diseases, and injuries.
- Ability to provide low vision care to visually impaired patients.
- Proficiency in ordering appropriate laboratory and imaging studies.
- Experience with prescribing ocular prosthetic devices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in educating and training optometry interns and residents is preferred.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
