Fort Wayne Quality Engineer Overview:
For this job, the Quality Engineer oversees the Fort Wayne manufacturing process, performs root cause analyses (RCA), and works to reduce defects by improving the process. The Quality Engineer works with quality staff to ensure that inspections at the greater Fort Wayne facility are performed regularly, properly, and to ISO standards. The Quality Engineer is the main avenue for information between production supervision and the quality staff.
Fort Wayne Quality Engineer Job Opening
- The Quality Engineer must supervise and improve the production part approval process (PPAP) for products for OEM customers.
- Schedule and perform failure mode effects analysis for new and current products.
- Utilize Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to check products.
- The Quality Engineer must implement and improve statistical process controls at the Fort Wayne facility.
- Establish quality improvement parameters through statistical methods applicable to the manufacturing processes for PVD.
- The Quality Engineer must create a standard and accurate sampling process through appropriate sampling methods.
- Develop reports through gathering, analyzing, and providing summary of data acquired in the quality process.
- Make recommendations for process changes based on quality report data.
- The Quality Engineer must perform regular checks of materials prior to production and post production.
- Perform spot checks through out the process.
- Monitor and direct the activities of quality technicians.
- The Quality Engineer will provide feedback and mentorship to quality technicians.
- Notify the appropriate staff whenever there are significant defects or errors.
- Keep and constantly improve a knowledge of quality processes and trends in manufacturing quality assurance through classes and educational workshops, staying current with professional publications, communicating with other quality professionals, and maintaining membership in professional societies.
Quality Engineer (Fort Wayne) Job Requirements:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, or a related field from an accredited university.
- A minimum of five to seven years of job experience in a manufacturing or quality engineering role.
- Proficient in blueprint reading, and familiar with tolerances and symbols.
- Apt problem solving skills, and a familiarity with DMAIC procedures.
- Quality engineer or quality associate certification.
- Previous experience in a quality role from an automotive OEM is strongly preferable.
- Lean Six Sigma job experience, certification is preferable.
