We are in search of an Estimation Specialist for our client, a distinguished entity in the manufacturing sector. The role is pivotal for the precision preparation and finalization of machining, fabrication, and millwright estimates, based on clientele Requests for Quotations (RFQs). The chosen candidate will be instrumental in delivering estimates that are both timely and accurate.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Decipher and extrapolate from client drawings, machining symbols, weld symbols, specifications, and calculate corresponding costs.
  • Lead and participate in estimate kickoff meetings to strategize RFQ pursuits.
  • Craft labor-hour strategies, after consulting with the shop when required, for the most economical approach to projects. Extract data from drawings to determine labor hours.
  • Collaborate closely with the sales division to formulate proficient pricing strategies for RFQs.
  • Based on the job’s nature, drawing state, and fabrication complexity, ascertain detailing hours.
  • Procure pricing for essential materials, ensuring optimal yield and minimal waste.
  • Engage directly with clients, engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers, both in-person and digitally, fortifying stellar working relationships.
  • Decipher portions of the estimate to be subcontracted, and critically assess subcontractor quotations for accuracy.
  • Draft detailed quote estimates, factoring in any assumptions or exclusions made.
  • Discuss estimate intricacies with the sales team, highlighting potential delivery challenges in meeting client timelines.
  • Facilitate swift transition of awarded jobs to procurement and production when required.

Candidate Profile:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1-3 years of professional exposure in a Manufacturing setting.
  • 2-4 years of enriched experience in estimation roles.
  • Possession of a Valid Driver’s License.
  • Adeptness in reading and interpreting Engineering blueprints.
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and its implications on manufacturability will be an advantage.
  • Stellar organizational and time management proficiencies coupled with robust interpersonal communication.
  • Profound mechanical acumen, encompassing knowledge of machinery, tools, and intricate manufacturing processes.
  • Autonomy in task execution, decision-making, and the ability to juggle multiple projects seamlessly.

  • Design processes to meet all quality standards in addition to internal, industry, and government safety standards.
  • Collaborate with other personnel in the Detroit plant to understand and meet customer expectations.
Manufacturing Engineer (Detroit Area) Job Requirements:
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering from an accredited university is required for this job.
  • Four years of job experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role.
  • Previous job experience working in an automotive company, additional past machining experience is preferable.
  • Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills.
  • A demonstrated history project management leading to successful results.
  • Exceptional CAD and 3D modeling skills for different jobs.
  • Able to read technical manuals, instructions, and blueprints.
  • Solid works experience or similar software experience is preferable for this job.
  • Thorough understanding of G&M codes and CNC programming.
  • Attention to detail and exceptional organization skills.
  • A team-oriented mindset yet able to work independently.
