Sales Manager

We are seeking a fluent Japanese-speaking Sales Manager to lead national sales efforts for a long-established and respected brand in the injection molding equipment industry. This is a high-impact, customer-facing role that involves managing a well-established client base while expanding our market presence across the U.S. The position is ideal for someone who thrives in a travel-heavy role, values long-term client relationships, and can represent the company domestically and internationally—including trips to Japan.

Position Responsibilities

Customer Relationship Management

  • Inherit and manage an existing national customer base
  • Build long-term, trust-based relationships with key accounts
  • Provide expert consultation, solutions, and post-sale support in collaboration with the service team

Sales & Territory Development

  • Drive national sales of injection molding equipment across a wide territory
  • Identify and pursue new sales opportunities and market expansion initiatives
  • Work in coordination with seven regional direct sales managers and additional regional reps

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with leadership, service teams, and product managers to meet sales targets
  • Work alongside the broader commercial team to support customer satisfaction and retention

Product & Industry Insight

  • Represent and promote a legacy brand with a 50+ year footprint in the U.S.
  • Leverage knowledge of Japanese manufacturing culture and language to connect with clients and vendors
  • Stay informed on market competition including brands like Shibaura (formerly Toshiba), JSW, Fanuc (Roboshot), and Bue

Prerequisites

  • Fluent in Japanese (spoken and written)
  • Proven experience in sales or business development, ideally with a Japanese manufacturer or in capital equipment sales
  • Willingness to travel extensively—up to 75% nationally, with occasional international travel to Japan
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Background in injection molding is a plus, but not required—training will be provided

  • Work collaboratively with dealerships to enhance their sales effectiveness through best practices and participation in the company’s training academy

Team Leadership

  • Mentor, coach, and direct the RSM team to ensure alignment with corporate sales goals
  • Monitor field activity, provide guidance on account strategy, and assist with closing complex opportunities

Channel Sales Development

  • Guide the launch and sales efforts of a new aftermarket parts and services line
  • Develop channel programs to support long-term growth and product penetration

Travel and Field Presence

  • Maintain a strong presence in the field with up to three weeks of travel per month
  • Conduct in-person dealer visits, training sessions, and ride-alongs with RSMs

Prerequisites

  • 8+ years of progressive sales or channel management experience, preferably in heavy equipment, machinery, or industrial products
  • Demonstrated success managing dealer/distributor networks and multi-regional sales teams
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and account management skills
  • Ability to analyze performance metrics, build actionable plans, and drive execution
  • Experience selling into municipalities and private-sector buyers is a plus
  • Familiarity with aftermarket programs or service-based revenue streams preferred
  • Midwest-based location is ideal; remote candidates with relevant travel flexibility will be considered

Certifications (Preferred, but Not Required)

  • Sales management or leadership training certifications
  • Lean sales or Six Sigma certifications related to sales operations

What the Role Offers

  • Salary range: $90,000 – $110,000
  • Perm fee: 30%
  • Base salary with variable commission; total compensation potential up to $250,000 – $300,000

We are seeking a results-driven sales representative to help drive revenue growth and expand market presence across targeted territories. This individual will be responsible for building strong customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and promoting solutions that meet client needs. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, skilled in consultative selling, and thrives in a dynamic, customer-facing environment.

Position Responsibilities

Customer Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing customers
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for client inquiries, proposals, and product information
  • Understand customer needs and present tailored solutions

Business Development

  • Identify, pursue, and close new sales opportunities across assigned territories or verticals
  • Attend industry events, networking functions, and trade shows to generate leads and build brand awareness
  • Conduct competitive research to identify market trends and opportunities

Sales Execution

  • Deliver compelling product presentations and demonstrations
  • Prepare and present quotes, contracts, and proposals
  • Negotiate pricing and terms in alignment with company goals

Collaboration and Reporting

  • Collaborate with internal teams such as marketing, product development, and customer service to ensure client satisfaction
  • Track and report sales activity using CRM tools
  • Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets

Prerequisites

  • 2–5 years of experience in B2B or B2C sales, preferably in industrial, manufacturing, or technical sales
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage a sales pipeline
  • Proficiency in using CRM platforms and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support sales activities

Certifications (Preferred, but Not Required)

  • Sales training certifications (e.g., Sandler, Challenger, Miller Heiman)
  • CRM or sales enablement platform training
