The Buyer is primarily accountable various maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) purchasing and procurement for a Detroit client. Detroit Buyer Overview:

The Detroit Buyer will be playing a big role in customer service, cost-saving processes, and making sure that materials arrive at the site in a timely and efficient manner. This Detroit, Michigan job will also require problem-solving abilities and creativity in order to effectively manage storerooms and tool cribs. The Buyer will be integral in building up relationships with various client companies.

Detroit Buyer Job Opening

  • The Buyer must adhere to all company safety polices and procedures and attend various safety classes and seminars at the Detroit site.
  • The position will need to be able to strategize plans that will save the company costs based on purchasing, procurement, and contact savings.
  • The Buyer will need to standardize products and help facilitate lean and continuous improvement initiatives in order to reduce the rate of MRO consumption by the client.
  • The role will require the research and identification of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) substitution and commercialization to clients in an effort to reduce costs.
  • The Buyer will need to analyze vendors and determine the best ones to use to save costs and deliver quality products.
  • The position will be utilizing a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) in order to best facilitate the purchasing process of MRO materials and management.
  • The Buyer will help support better company relationships with clients.
  • This job will also analyze invoices in order to avoid any possible discrepancies between expenditures and products bought.
  • The position will help enact improvements in quality.
  • The Buyer will also fulfill any other jobs as assigned at the Detroit location.
Buyer (Detroit Area) Job Requirements
  • A 4-year Bachelor’s degree is preferred for this job.
  • CPM/APICS certification is a plus for this Detroit job.
  • Strong background/knowledge of Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) materials.
  • Experience using a CMMS is preferred for this job.
  • Experience/background in using sourcing initiatives to strategically save costs.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Powerpoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Great attention-to-detail and tenacity.
