We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to lead manufacturing activities, support production teams, and ensure products are produced safely, efficiently, and according to established quality standards. This role will focus on team development, production performance, safety, and continuous improvement while collaborating with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams.
Position Responsibilities
Production Operations
- Supervise and direct production activities for assigned manufacturing lines.
- Establish work schedules, assignments, and production requirements in coordination with management.
- Ensure products meet established process specifications and quality requirements.
- Monitor production performance and assist with troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Interpret production specifications and determine the acceptability of work in process.
- Maintain strong knowledge of products, equipment, and manufacturing processes.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop production employees to strengthen skills and performance.
- Manage daily employee matters, including attendance, recognition, accountability, and payroll-related issues.
- Provide effective counseling and performance feedback to team members.
- Apply corrective and progressive disciplinary actions when appropriate.
- Support succession planning and development of future production leaders.
- Foster a positive, engaged, and accountable work environment.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures.
- Promote a safe, healthy, and accident-free workplace.
- Identify and control hazards related to human error, equipment, and machine operations.
- Reinforce safe work practices and ensure employees understand safety expectations.
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
- Support maintenance and engineering activities related to production operations.
- Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
- Apply root cause analysis and continuous improvement principles to operational issues.
- Maintain effective communication with operations management and other departments.
- Analyze performance metrics and implement solutions to improve production results.
Prerequisites
- Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or 3–5 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, production processes, and standard operating procedures.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, develop, and engage production teams.
- Experience supervising multiple production operators.
- Strong communication, active listening, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment and production processes.
- Proficiency with computer systems and standard business software.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
- Ability to work a second-shift schedule and provide flexibility to cover vacations and other staffing needs.
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
- Lean Six Sigma certification.
- OSHA or workplace safety certification.
- Root Cause Analysis certification or training.
- Production or manufacturing management certification.
- Relevant leadership or supervisory training.
