We are seeking a skilled Materials Scientist to research, develop, characterize, and improve materials for innovative products and manufacturing processes. This role will support material selection, testing, product development, and continuous improvement while collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and other technical teams.
Position Responsibilities
Materials Research & Development
- Research and evaluate materials for new and existing products.
- Develop and optimize material formulations, compositions, and processing methods.
- Conduct laboratory experiments and support material development initiatives.
- Investigate new materials and technologies that may improve product performance.
Testing & Characterization
- Plan and conduct material testing, analysis, and characterization.
- Evaluate mechanical, thermal, chemical, and physical properties as applicable.
- Analyze test results and prepare technical reports and recommendations.
- Investigate material failures and identify potential corrective actions.
Product & Process Development
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to support product development.
- Assist with material selection and qualification for new products and processes.
- Support scale-up, validation, and implementation of material improvements.
- Identify opportunities to improve product performance, quality, and cost.
Quality & Technical Support
- Support material specifications, documentation, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams on material-related issues.
- Ensure materials and processes meet applicable technical and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and problem-solving initiatives.
Prerequisites
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in materials research, development, testing, or manufacturing environments.
- Strong knowledge of material properties, characterization methods, and laboratory techniques.
- Experience analyzing technical data and developing conclusions from test results.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and cross-functional teams.
- Experience with laboratory equipment and materials testing methodologies preferred.
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Six Sigma certification.
- Materials science or engineering professional certification.
- Quality or laboratory-related certification.
- Relevant technical or industry certifications.
