We are seeking an experienced EHS Manager to lead environmental, health, and safety initiatives across an operational organization. This role will be responsible for developing and maintaining EHS programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, reducing workplace risks, and promoting a strong safety culture. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader who can partner with employees and management to continuously improve safety and environmental performance.
Position Responsibilities
Environmental, Health & Safety Programs
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS policies, procedures, and programs.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections, risk assessments, and compliance reviews.
- Identify hazards and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor EHS performance metrics and develop strategies for continuous improvement.
Safety Leadership & Training
- Promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
- Develop and deliver safety training, orientations, and awareness programs.
- Provide guidance to employees and managers regarding safe work practices and regulatory requirements.
- Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and injuries and implement corrective actions.
- Support emergency preparedness and response programs.
Environmental Compliance
- Oversee environmental compliance programs and required reporting.
- Monitor waste management, hazardous materials, emissions, and other environmental requirements.
- Maintain appropriate environmental records, permits, and documentation.
- Coordinate environmental inspections, audits, and regulatory interactions.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Develop and maintain safety management systems and compliance procedures.
- Lead internal EHS audits and coordinate responses to regulatory inspections.
- Track corrective actions and ensure timely resolution of identified issues.
- Partner with operations and leadership to identify opportunities to reduce risk and improve performance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with operations, engineering, maintenance, HR, and management teams on EHS initiatives.
- Provide leadership with recommendations regarding safety risks, compliance requirements, and improvement opportunities.
- Support the integration of EHS requirements into operational and business processes.
- Maintain effective relationships with regulatory agencies, consultants, and other external stakeholders as needed.
Prerequisites
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive EHS experience, preferably in a manufacturing, industrial, or operational environment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable environmental and workplace safety regulations.
- Experience developing and implementing EHS programs and management systems.
- Proven experience conducting incident investigations, risk assessments, and safety audits.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze EHS data and develop effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and operational leadership.
- Strong knowledge of emergency response and workplace safety practices.
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP).
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
- Occupational Health and Safety certification.
- OSHA or environmental compliance certifications.
- Lean Six Sigma certification.
