We are seeking a strategic and experienced Senior Commodity Manager to lead sourcing and supplier management activities for resin and related materials within a manufacturing environment. This role will develop commodity strategies, negotiate with suppliers, drive cost savings, manage supply risks, and build strong supplier partnerships while collaborating with cross-functional teams to support operational and financial objectives.

Position Responsibilities

Commodity Strategy & Sourcing

Develop and execute enterprise-wide commodity strategies aligned with business, operational, and financial objectives.
Analyze market conditions, industry trends, supplier capacity, and emerging risks to identify cost improvement opportunities and protect supply continuity.
Lead supplier identification, evaluation, selection, qualification, onboarding, and ongoing performance management.

Supplier Management

Establish and maintain strategic supplier relationships, agreements, and commercial terms.
Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, capacity, cost, and service.
Lead supplier corrective actions and development initiatives.
Support supplier training and continuous improvement within lean manufacturing environments.

Negotiation & Cost Management

Lead sourcing, negotiation, cost reduction, cost avoidance, and value improvement initiatives.
Analyze supplier quotations and total cost of ownership to identify optimal sourcing solutions.
Maintain accurate reporting of commodity performance, savings, cost avoidance, and price changes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Finance, and Program Management teams.
Support new product development, value engineering/value analysis, APQP requirements, and product launches.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of supply management processes, systems, policies, and reporting tools.

Compliance & Team Leadership

Ensure purchasing activities and supplier agreements comply with applicable requirements and organizational policies.
Provide functional leadership, coaching, and mentoring to supply chain team members as applicable.
Promote ethical business practices, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Prerequisites

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
7+ years of progressive experience in purchasing, strategic sourcing, commodity management, supplier development, or supply chain management within manufacturing.
Demonstrated experience developing and executing commodity or sourcing strategies.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, cost drivers, supplier quality, materials management, and total cost of ownership.
Experience with supplier negotiations, cost reduction initiatives, supplier selection, and supplier performance improvement.
Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, problem-solving, and relationship management skills.
Experience analyzing market data, supplier quotations, financial information, and business risks.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and ERP/MRP systems.
Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to changing business conditions.
Willingness to travel up to 30% as required.

Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)

Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM).
Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP).
APICS or ISM certification.
Other relevant purchasing, procurement, or supply chain certifications.
Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement certifications.
