We are seeking an experienced Compounding Engineer to support the development, optimization, and production of engineered compounds within a manufacturing environment. This role focuses on ensuring material consistency, improving processing efficiency, and supporting cross-functional teams in troubleshooting and enhancing compounding operations. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in polymer or material compounding, along with a hands-on approach to process improvement and production support.
Position Responsibilities
Compounding Process Optimization
- Develop, refine, and optimize compounding processes to ensure consistent product quality, stable production output, and efficient material utilization.
Material Development & Testing
- Support formulation development activities and conduct material testing to ensure compounds meet internal and customer specifications.
- Analyze test results and provide recommendations for material or process improvements.
Production Support & Troubleshooting
- Work closely with production teams to identify and resolve processing issues.
- Troubleshoot equipment and material challenges and implement corrective actions to reduce downtime.
Quality & Process Control
- Monitor compounding performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve process capability.
- Support initiatives aimed at reducing scrap rates and improving overall efficiency and consistency.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of formulations, batch data, and process parameters.
- Prepare reports on production performance, quality trends, and improvement initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to support new product introductions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.
Prerequisites
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Experience in polymer compounding, plastics processing, or manufacturing engineering preferred.
- Strong understanding of material behavior, extrusion, or compounding systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment with hands-on troubleshooting.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
- Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing Certification
- Polymer or Materials Processing Certifications
- Process Engineering Training
- Safety Certifications (OSHA or equivalent)
