We are seeking an experienced Production Manager with hands-on experience in High-Pressure Die Casting (HPDC) to lead daily production operations, oversee production readiness, develop and maintain manufacturing processes, and build a highly capable production team. This role will be responsible for driving safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives while supporting the implementation and optimization of advanced casting technologies.
Position Responsibilities
Production & Team Management
- Direct and coordinate daily HPDC production activities to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
- Manage production personnel, including work schedules, task assignments, and shift coverage.
- Establish, monitor, and report key performance indicators (KPIs), including productivity, OEE, quality yield, and on-time delivery.
- Prepare regular production performance reports for senior management.
- Develop, implement, and enforce departmental policies, goals, standard operating procedures, and operational standards.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate production staff while supporting career development.
- Lead training and coaching initiatives to improve technical competency, problem-solving skills, and operational discipline.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment in compliance with applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Establish and oversee preventive maintenance schedules for die-casting machinery and auxiliary equipment.
- Manage OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory requirements and reporting.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Production Readiness & Equipment Implementation
- Oversee the installation, commissioning, and acceptance of new die-casting equipment, including machines, furnaces, robotics, and supporting systems.
- Participate in facility modifications, equipment layout planning, and material-flow optimization.
- Develop and refine production process documentation, including SOPs, control plans, and equipment protocols.
- Establish and maintain quality management system compliance with applicable standards such as ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
- Lead the recruitment, onboarding, and training of key production personnel.
- Utilize research and development projects and prototype builds for process optimization, equipment testing, and team training during early New Product Introduction (NPI) phases.
Process Development & Quality
- Manage and execute Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities for future mass-production projects.
- Ensure manufacturing processes are validated and capable of consistently producing compliant products prior to launch.
- Support documentation, capability studies, and process validation activities.
- Participate in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews during new product development.
- Provide technical recommendations regarding part design, gating, tooling, and process parameters to optimize die-casting processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, quality, equipment performance, and operational reliability.
Safety & Compliance
- Promote a strong safety culture across production operations.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable industry regulations.
- Monitor workplace conditions and address safety, environmental, and operational concerns.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, and manufacturing performance.
Prerequisites
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with High-Pressure Die Casting (HPDC) and supporting equipment.
- Strong understanding of die-casting production processes and manufacturing operations.
- Experience leading and developing production teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and delegate tasks effectively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and maintenance or manufacturing management software.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Experience with production KPIs, including OEE, productivity, quality yield, and delivery performance.
- Experience with production process documentation, SOPs, control plans, and process validation.
- Willingness to work in and around manufacturing environments, including production floors with varying temperatures and noise levels.
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
- Experience or certification related to ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 quality management systems.
- OSHA-related safety training or certification.
- Project management certification.
- Manufacturing, engineering, or production management certification.
