We are seeking an experienced Engineering & Maintenance Manager to lead the engineering and maintenance functions within a high-volume manufacturing facility. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, driving continuous improvement initiatives, managing capital projects, and maintaining a safe and efficient operation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial manufacturing, maintenance strategy, and engineering leadership.
Position Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance Leadership
- Lead engineering and maintenance operations with a strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and industry safety standards.
- Promote continuous improvement through safety audits, training, and proactive risk management.
Maintenance Strategy & Asset Reliability
- Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance programs.
- Improve equipment reliability, uptime, and overall asset performance.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) initiatives and implement sustainable corrective actions.
Engineering & Capital Project Management
- Manage capital and non-capital engineering projects from planning through execution.
- Oversee equipment installations, upgrades, automation initiatives, and facility improvements.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and meet quality objectives.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop engineers, maintenance supervisors, planners, and technical personnel.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Support employee development through coaching, training, and succession planning.
Budget & Resource Management
- Manage engineering and maintenance operating budgets and capital expenditures.
- Optimize maintenance resources, spare parts inventory, and project costs.
- Monitor financial performance while supporting operational reliability goals.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Production, Quality, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Supply Chain, and other departments to support plant objectives.
- Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and equipment manufacturers on maintenance and engineering initiatives.
- Support continuous improvement and operational excellence across the facility.
Prerequisites
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in industrial manufacturing with progressive engineering or maintenance leadership responsibilities.
- At least 3 years of leadership experience managing engineers, supervisors, or technical teams.
- Strong knowledge of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
- Experience managing capital projects, equipment installations, and process improvements.
- Working knowledge of CMMS systems, maintenance planning, budgeting, and cost control.
- Strong understanding of industrial manufacturing equipment, reliability principles, and maintenance best practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Certifications (Preferred, but Not Required)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP).
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.
- OSHA Safety Certification.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
