We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Controls Engineer to design, develop, program, and support industrial automation and control systems. The ideal candidate will have experience with PLC programming, robotics, HMI/SCADA systems, and control system integration while providing technical support to ensure reliable and efficient manufacturing operations.
Position Responsibilities
Control Systems Design & Programming
- Design, program, and troubleshoot industrial automation and control systems.
- Develop PLC, HMI, and control logic using industry-standard programming platforms.
- Integrate control systems with robotics, automation equipment, and manufacturing processes.
System Integration & Commissioning
- Perform system upgrades, retrofits, and modifications to improve performance.
- Commission, test, validate, and optimize control systems to ensure reliable operation.
- Support equipment start-up and production implementation.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide on-site and remote technical support for automation systems.
- Diagnose and resolve control system, PLC, robotics, and electrical issues.
- Respond to customer service requests and support field service activities as needed.
Documentation & Reporting
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, programming records, and service reports.
- Document system configurations, troubleshooting activities, and project updates.
- Ensure accurate project documentation throughout the engineering lifecycle.
Customer & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with customers and internal engineering teams to develop automation solutions.
- Provide technical guidance during project planning, implementation, and commissioning.
- Train customers on system operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all control systems comply with applicable safety standards and industry regulations.
- Follow company engineering standards and best practices.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance and reliability.
Prerequisites
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial automation or controls engineering.
- Hands-on experience with Siemens TIA Portal, Allen-Bradley PLCs, and Fanuc robot programming.
- Experience with PLC programming, HMI development, SCADA systems, and industrial automation.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Profinet, and Modbus.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Certifications (Preferred, but Not Required)
- Siemens TIA Portal Certification.
- Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation Certification.
- Fanuc Robotics Certification.
- Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST).
- Experience with Motion Control systems and advanced HMI/SCADA development.
- Knowledge of NFPA 79, ISO 13849, and IEC 61508 safety standards.
