We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead plant maintenance and reliability activities while ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. This individual will oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs, lead maintenance personnel, manage budgets, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to maximize equipment reliability and support production goals.
The ideal candidate will bring strong industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience, technical expertise, and proven leadership abilities.
Position Responsibilities
Maintenance and Reliability Management
- Direct and manage preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
- Develop maintenance strategies that support production goals and overall operational performance.
- Lead maintenance planning, scheduling, and resource allocation activities.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
- Support equipment installation, modifications, upgrades, and other reliability initiatives.
Team Leadership and Development
- Provide leadership, direction, and performance management for Maintenance Supervisors, Maintenance Planners, and other maintenance personnel.
- Develop team capabilities and promote effective workforce utilization.
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Motivate and develop employees while supporting professional growth and succession planning.
Capital Projects and Budget Management
- Oversee capital projects from planning through implementation and commissioning.
- Develop technical specifications, support vendor selection, and prepare project justifications.
- Manage maintenance budgets, capital spending, and resource requirements.
- Prepare and submit maintenance, capital spending, and performance reports.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to operations.
Continuous Improvement and Problem Solving
- Conduct root cause analyses of equipment failures and implement effective corrective actions.
- Utilize Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and other continuous improvement methodologies to improve plant performance.
- Identify opportunities to reduce downtime, improve equipment performance, and optimize maintenance processes.
- Apply statistical methods and data analysis to support operational decision-making.
Safety, Environmental, and Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety, health, environmental, building code, and regulatory requirements.
- Support waste management, recycling, and environmental initiatives.
- Participate in incident and near-miss investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Support the development and review of Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and other maintenance documentation.
- Promote a safe working environment and maintain compliance with established policies and procedures.
Prerequisites
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent progressive industrial and manufacturing maintenance experience.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Previous maintenance management or supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical equipment and maintenance procedures.
- Experience managing maintenance planning, scheduling, budgeting, and personnel.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of applicable federal, state, and local building codes and safety regulations.
- Experience with root cause analysis, statistical methods, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other continuous improvement practices.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while effectively leading and motivating a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with SAP or other maintenance and enterprise resource planning systems is preferred.
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
- Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP).
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
- Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM).
- Project Management Professional (PMP).
- OSHA or other relevant safety certifications.
