We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to lead and oversee engineering operations, drive technical innovation, and support the successful execution of strategic business objectives. This leadership role is responsible for managing engineering teams, optimizing processes, guiding product and project development, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical solutions. Position Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for engineering teams and initiatives.
- Develop and implement engineering goals aligned with organizational objectives.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor and develop engineering managers, team leads, and technical staff.
Project & Program Management
- Oversee engineering projects from concept through implementation.
- Establish project priorities, timelines, budgets, and resource allocations.
- Monitor project performance and ensure successful execution of deliverables.
- Manage risks, resolve technical challenges, and maintain project quality standards.
Technical Strategy & Innovation
- Lead the development and execution of engineering strategies that support business growth.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation.
- Drive process improvements and technology advancements across engineering functions.
- Ensure engineering solutions meet operational, customer, and regulatory requirements.
Team Development & Talent Management
- Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent.
- Conduct performance evaluations and succession planning activities.
- Promote employee engagement, accountability, and professional growth.
- Support training and development initiatives to strengthen technical capabilities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with operations, manufacturing, sales, product management, quality, and executive leadership teams.
- Facilitate communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Support organizational initiatives through effective collaboration and resource management.
- Ensure alignment between engineering activities and overall business objectives.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Establish engineering standards, best practices, and performance metrics.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, and cost reduction.
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, regulations, and internal procedures.
- Utilize data-driven decision-making to improve engineering performance and outcomes.
Prerequisites
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 10+ years of progressive engineering experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Proven experience managing engineering teams, projects, and budgets.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, project management, and process improvement methodologies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to balance technical priorities with business objectives.
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Lean Manufacturing Certification
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
- Certified Engineering Manager (CEM)
- MBA or Advanced Technical Degree
