We are seeking a driven and innovative Automation Process Engineer to join a fast-growing industrial automation company delivering advanced packaging and assembly solutions to the food and beverage industry. This individual will play a pivotal role in scaling automation capabilities, driving process improvements, and supporting the seamless integration of high-performance factory equipment. As part of a dynamic national engineering team, this role will provide on-site support across multiple facilities and mobile manufacturing deployments, contributing directly to the company’s mission of becoming the premier provider of variety packaging solutions.
Position Responsibilities
Continuous Improvement & Development
- Drive initiatives that improve equipment performance and process reliability.
- Identify and implement innovative solutions to optimize factory operations.
Engineering Handoff
- Oversee the successful integration of new machines into plant operations.
- Troubleshoot, verify performance, and ensure alignment with operational needs.
Leadership
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to Automation Technicians.
- Foster skill development and knowledge sharing within the team.
Collaboration
- Actively contribute to the national manufacturing engineering team.
- Promote standardization and implementation of best practices across sites.
Problem Solving
- Diagnose and resolve process bottlenecks, equipment inefficiencies, and operational issues.
Data Analysis
- Utilize data-driven methods to evaluate equipment performance and cycle time.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and execute improvement strategies.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with operations, maintenance, and quality teams.
- Align engineering efforts with financial and operational goals.
Safety
- Ensure all changes and equipment installations comply with safety standards.
Sojo Flight™ Deployment
- Lead mobile manufacturing line deployments and optimizations.
- Manage real-time startup and troubleshooting at various sites, with travel up to 50%.
Additional Duties
- Perform other engineering-related tasks as assigned by management.
Prerequisites
- 2–10 years of experience in engineering or operations within a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks (or equivalents)
- Experience in continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with FANUC robot programming and troubleshooting (or equivalent)
- Proficiency in Allen Bradley PLC programming (or equivalent)
- Strong ability to communicate technical information across teams
- Solid understanding of automation systems, robotics, and factory equipment
- Self-motivated with minimal need for oversight
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics
- Excellent communication (written and verbal)
- Experience with automated factory systems including robotics, conveyors, packaging, and vision systems
- Knowledge of safety standards in industrial environments
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent industry experience
- Willingness to travel up to 50%
Certifications (Preferred, but Not Required)
- Lean or Six Sigma Certification
- CI/CD tools
- Data analysis proficiency in Excel, Tableau, or Power BI
