We are seeking an accomplished Warehouse/Distribution Center GM to lead operations in a high-volume, 250,000-square-foot distribution center managing a diverse mix of SKUs—from small items to heavy and bulky materials. This role demands extensive experience in launching new distribution facilities, optimizing warehouse performance, leading large teams, and driving operational excellence. Position Responsibilities
Distribution Center Setup & Expansion
- Lead the launch and optimization of new distribution centers.
- Design and implement scalable processes to support current operations and future growth.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams during facility startup and expansion phases.
Leadership & Team Management
- Direct and mentor warehouse leadership teams to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Support workforce planning and development initiatives.
Quality Assurance & Operational Excellence
- Implement and monitor quality control systems to uphold high standards for accuracy, safety, and compliance.
- Drive best practices in fulfillment and warehousing to reduce errors and returns.
KPI Development & Execution
- Define and monitor KPIs such as order accuracy, on-time delivery, inventory turnover, and freight efficiency.
- Utilize performance data to identify trends, resolve issues, and improve workflow.
Inbound & Outbound Freight Management
- Oversee efficient truck scheduling, dock flow, and shipment tracking to minimize transit delays.
- Work closely with carriers and logistics providers to enhance service and reduce costs.
Inventory & Supply Chain Management
- Manage consigned inventory programs, ensuring accurate tracking and timely reconciliation.
- Optimize inventory strategies to support high SKU variety and volume across multiple product categories.
Government Compliance & Tariff Regulations
- Ensure adherence to import/export regulations and tariff policies affecting warehousing and transportation.
- Collaborate with compliance teams to stay current on trade and customs updates.
Continuous Improvement & Lean Process Management
- Apply lean methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Kaizen) to reduce waste and improve operational workflows.
- Identify and lead continuous improvement projects across warehouse functions.
Budgeting & Cost Optimization
- Oversee the development and management of distribution center budgets.
- Implement cost control strategies while maintaining service level targets and operational quality.
Prerequisites
- 10+ years of experience in distribution, fulfillment, or supply chain operations.
- Proven success in launching and managing large-scale distribution facilities.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage cross-functional teams in high-volume settings.
- Extensive experience in high SKU environments and complex logistics networks.
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, or a related field is required.
- Professional certifications such as Six Sigma, Lean, PMP, or equivalent are preferred but not mandatory.
