We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Central Process Engineer II to support process improvement and integration across our client’s manufacturing sites. Using World Class Manufacturing (WCM) principles, this role helps optimize equipment, refine product formulations, and enhance process performance. You’ll work closely with local site teams, engineering, and R&D to drive standardization, stability, and capability in plant operations.
Position Responsibilities
Safety & Environment
- Develop a solid understanding of safety standards and procedures that contribute to a secure and compliant workplace.
- Continuously monitor operations for safety risks and actively support behavioral safety initiatives.
- Apply good housekeeping practices using 5S methodology and maintain compliance with environmental regulations.
Process Improvement & Engineering
- Participate in cross-functional teams to analyze process variations and implement corrective actions using statistical tools.
- Design and revise process systems under the guidance of the Performance Manager.
- Lead execution of process projects, documenting and reporting progress through written reports and presentations.
- Partner with R&D and engineering to ensure successful integration of new process knowledge and technologies.
Process Integration & Site Support
- Assist plants with key initiatives and roadmap execution.
- Identify and close process gaps to align operations with best practices.
- Establish clear, standardized process parameters to promote operational stability.
- Troubleshoot equipment and process issues and validate equipment performance through engineering studies.
- Support plant rebuilds, start-ups, and capital implementation projects.
- Help maintain long-term process knowledge and equipment integrity using WCM systems like Step 0.
Training & Education
- Contribute to training engineers and local plant trainers.
- Provide technical support to operator and maintenance training efforts as needed.
Advanced Manufacturing (I4.0)
- Collaborate with the Advanced Manufacturing team to integrate smart data solutions and process automation technologies into daily operations.
Prerequisites
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (required)
- 3–5 years’ experience in gypsum manufacturing (must include at least one area):
- Calcination
- Mixing and Forming
- Drying
- 1–2 years in a production or process-focused role (preferred)
- Experience with mass and energy balance, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and P&ID reading
- Familiarity with Continuous Improvement methodologies (preferred)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Willingness to travel 50–75% of the time
Certifications (Preferred, not required)
- Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
- Minitab or other statistical software certification
- Lean Manufacturing or WCM-related certification
