We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Central Process Engineer II to play a critical role in improving process performance across our client’s manufacturing sites. Guided by World Class Manufacturing (WCM) principles, this position supports site teams in optimizing equipment, stabilizing processes, and driving operational excellence. You’ll contribute to equipment design, process trials, training, and integration of best practices across key manufacturing functions.
Position Responsibilities
Safety & Environment
- Understand and apply essential safety standards to promote a safe and compliant work environment
- Evaluate and respond to workplace safety concerns and participate in behavioral safety initiatives
- Support environmental compliance and maintain workplace organization using 5S principles
Process Engineering & General Support
- Participate in cross-functional project teams to analyze process variation and implement improvements using statistical tools
- Design, revise, and implement new and existing process systems to increase plant profitability
- Lead safe project execution and communicate outcomes through reports and presentations
- Work closely with R&D and engineering to ensure successful implementation of new technologies and process knowledge
Process Integration & Site Support
- Support plant execution of strategic initiatives from process route maps
- Assist site teams in identifying and resolving process gaps through troubleshooting and optimization
- Establish consistent process parameters to stabilize and standardize operations
- Conduct equipment studies to confirm performance and operational efficiency
- Ensure proper documentation and long-term process sustainability through Step 0 and other WCM systems
- Support capital projects, rebuilds, commissioning, and new process implementation
Training & Knowledge Sharing
- Support training of engineers, local plant trainers, and production teams
- Provide hands-on guidance for operators and maintenance teams on process-related best practices
Digital Manufacturing (I4.0)
- Partner with the Advanced Manufacturing team to incorporate data-driven strategies and digital tools into daily operations
Prerequisites
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (required)
- 3–5 years of experience in gypsum manufacturing, with expertise in one or more of the following:
- Calcination
- Mixing and Forming
- Drying
- 1–2 years in a production or process-focused role (preferred)
- Proficiency with mass & energy balance, fluid properties, thermodynamics, and P&ID interpretation
- Continuous improvement mindset and experience (preferred)
- Experience using Minitab or other statistical analysis tools (preferred)
Strong written and verbal communication skills - Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
- Ability to travel 50–75% of the time
- Solid project management fundamentals
Certifications (Preferred, not required)
- Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt)
- Lean Manufacturing Certification
- Statistical Analysis (e.g., Minitab) Certification
