Detroit Supplier Quality Engineer Overview:
The Detroit Supplier Quality Engineer will interface regularly with purchasing and manufacturing quality assurance staff to determine areas of improvement for supplier materials as well as identifying new supply sources. The Supplier Quality Engineer will analyze APQP documents, the control plan, process controls, and problem solving procedures. The Supplier Quality Engineer will notify the supplier of defects and work to identify ways to mitigate defects as well as improve the quality of supplies.
Detroit Supplier Quality Engineer Job Opening
- The Detroit Supplier Quality Engineer will perform surveys of suppliers to evaluate their quality systems, process capabilities, and the delivery requirements.
- Using performance reviews, determine appropriate actions and lead projects to mitigate all problems. Ensure that supplier’s quality standards are at appropriate levels.
- Take part in qualifying and approving new suppliers and assist with the selection and removal of suppliers on the approved list.
- The Detroit Supplier Quality Engineer will interface between all concerned parties when quality issues arise to ensure measures are taken to minimize loss and defects.
- Develop a record of recurring defects and plan measures to correct or prevent further recurring defects.
- Review contracts for suppliers.
Supplier Quality Engineer (Detroit Area) Job Requirements:
- A four year degree in the field of engineering from and accredited university.
- At least three years of experience working in a role with supplier development or supplier quality assurance.
- At least five years of manufacturing and quality systems experience, especially working with a supplier.
- Possession of a CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) certificate.
- Understanding of quality systems as well as supplier quality audit procedures.
- Understanding of quality improvement systems, particularly Six Sigma, PFMEA, Control Plans, and SPC.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, as well as access.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills, able to manage multiple projects and deadlines concurrently.
- Proven history of leading continuous improvement projects.
