Detroit Sr. Procurement Director Overview:
The Detroit Sr. Procurement Director will report to the Director of Operations. The Senior Procurement Director will identify the appropriate level of supplies for the region, and ensure that appropriate levels are maintained within the region. For this job, the Detroit Senior Procurement Director will plan and lead trainings for other procurement personnel. Additionally, the Procurement director will develop and refine policies to enhance the efficiency of the procurement department.
Detroit Sr. Procurement Director Job Opening:
- The Detroit Senior Procurement Director will assist department and company leadership in developing and improving policies for the purchasing department.
- Provide direction and assistance to less senior and junior purchasing personnel.
- Communicate regularly with suppliers, negotiate terms of agreements, ensure all supplies arrive on time and in the proper quantities, and mitigate any issues as they arise.
- The Detroit Senior Procurement Director will lead and assist in researching different suppliers for materials. Organize meetings and presentations with suppliers.
- Communicate regularly with maintenance and quality personnel to identify errors and faulty parts. Serve as the maintenance department’s liaison to suppliers.
- Work with purchasing personnel to identify areas that could be made more efficient.
- The Detroit Senior Procurement Director shall perform research to determine the appropriate stock levels for each material kept on hand. Regularly update these figures as demands change.
- Take part in annual review process for personnel in the purchasing department.
- Provide mentoring and coaching the less senior purchasing personnel.
Sr. Procurement Director (Detroit Area) Job Requirements:
- A four year degree from an accredited institution in the field of business or a related discipline.
- Masters of Business Administration would be preferable for this position.
- A minimum of five years in a management or leadership role in a purchasing department.
- Great communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven leadership skills.
- Proven ability to negotiate for cost saving contracts.
- Proven history of implementing cost saving policies.
