Grand Rapids Senior Buyer Overview:
The Grand Rapids Senior Buyer will be a leader in the purchasing department. The Senior Buyer will be responsible for leading market research projects to identify new potential suppliers to provide materials for the best price without compromising quality. The Senior Buyer will also work with Quality and Engineering personnel to identify desirable suppliers.
Grand Rapids Senior Buyer Job Opening
- The Grand Rapids Senior Buyer will negotiate pricing for materials and supplies with existing suppliers.
- Research and investigate potential suppliers, make introductory calls and explore the abilities of the potential supplier.
- Interface regularly with Engineering and Quality personnel to establish the necessary requirements for materials for current and new products.
- The Grand Rapids Senior Buyer will take part in new product planning as necessary to estimate the cost of building prototypes and launch products.
- Partner with the Purchasing Manager to enact new policies and procedures to meet company goals and objectives.
- Ensure that all purchasing actions align with internal policies and standards regarding purchasing.
- The Grand Rapids Senior Buyer will be responsible for remaining knowledgeable of the metals and fastener markets.
- Assist in training new buyers and educating them about the metals market.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the purchasing manager.
Senior Buyer (Grand Rapids Area) Job Requirements:
- A four year degree from an accredited university in business or a related field.
- At least six years of experience purchasing metal materials and fasteners.
- A background in the manufacturing industry.
- Certified Purchasing Manager or APICS certification would be desired.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Familiar with the Microsoft Office Suite of programs, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- A high level of business acumen.
- Familiarity of general materials suppliers.
- Good leadership skills, comfortable working in a team as a senior member.
