Detroit Program Manager Overview: 

The Program Manager will work directly with the automotive OEM customers in and outside of Detroit, Michigan and its personnel to understand the customers needs and requirements for various job orders. The Program Manager will then implement necessary strategies to deliver the products to the customer on time and with the highest level of quality. The Detroit Program Manager will direct the design and engineering staff to meet all deliverables on time.

• The Program Manager must establish and maintain a strong professional relationship with all contacts with the customers while working out of Detroit, Michigan for this job.
• Utilize active listening and proactive questions to understand what the customer needs on a very technical level for this job.
• The Program Manager will provide guidance and direction to program design staff in regard to the customer’s technical specifications as well as the overall goal.
• Establish benchmarks and other goals for the program staff. Ensure that these are met for the Detroit, Michigan plant.
• Analyze and evaluate designs. Provide guidance to Engineering and CAD staff regarding the design and areas for improvement.
• The Program Manager must partner with quality and manufacturing staff to minimize and rectify all defects or other issues.
• Analyze customer requirements and provide them with sales quotes once obtaining verification and approval.
• Partner with quality staff to insure that all TS standards for design are met.
• The Program Manager will ensure that every member of the program staff is meeting expectations, and provide guidance when they are not.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities with the customer in greater Detroit.
• Develop and present sales presentations all over Michigan.

Program Manager (Detroit Area) Job Requirements:

• A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field.
• A minimum of five years of experience in a technical role for an automotive company.
• Automotive injection molded plastics is strongly preferential.
• Experience with quality assurance systems.
• Exceptional CAD skills.
• Great computer skills, able to use Microsoft office and its component programs (Powerpoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Great communication skills, written and verbal.
• Lean six sigma training or certification is highly preferable.
