The Plant Foreman oversees the activity of the shop floor and works as an avenue for communication between program managers and the Detroit shop employees. The Plant Foreman should have a wide range of technical knowledge and able to operate a number of tools/machines. - The Plant Foreman shall oversee and organize the work of the shop’s skilled and unskilled employees.
- Provide direction for project, able to advise what operations need to be performed at each step in the process.
- The Plant Foreman will teach employees how to properly operate and maintain company equipment and tools.
- Handle all daily operations, manage resources and prioritize all jobs within the shop.
- The Plant Foreman must ensure that all operations are performed in accordance with company practices, procedures, and principles.
- Manage the shop floor staff without reminders from the administrative office.
- The Plant Foreman will provide positive reinforcement to encourage positive practices, and coach employees who are performing operations incorrectly.
- Document and record problems in production, either neglectful work or problems between employees.
- The Plant Foreman must read and interpret blueprints in order to direct workers.
- Manage a number of tasks and teams such as machinists, tool builders, assembly workers, and testing.
- The Plant Foreman will perform periodic maintenance on equipment to minimize malfunction related downtime.
- Formulate and enact a set of shipping requirements for completed productions.
Plant Foreman (Detroit Area) Job Requirements:
- A minimum of an associates degree or equivalent on the job experience.
- At least five years of experience in a supervisory job.
- Demonstrated experience with a variety of machine tools, and an aptitude to learn how to operate new tools or pieces of equipment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Mediation and problem solving skills.
- A can-do attitude, willing to perform a variety of tasks in order to lead by example.
- Basic business computer skills, able to use Microsoft office.
