The Manufacturing Engineer will develop and improve the manufacturing processes for new and current products while working out of the Jackson, Michigan plant. This job will focus on gathering and analyzing data on the manufacturing process. The Manufacturing Engineer with use gathered data to develop and implement new processes with measurable job results. The Manufacturing Engineer will partner with product design and serve as a project manager as new products are introduced.
Jackson Manufacturing Engineer Job Opening
- The Manufacturing Engineer will plan, design, and set up production lines and tooling for particular products.
- Set-up, program, and troubleshoot the PLC and CNC machines for jobs in the greater Jackson, Michigan plant.
- The Manufacturing Engineer may serve as project manager on the set-up and build of manufacturing lines and processes for different job orders.
- Ensure that the project budget is followed and the project does not exceed the budget for the Jackson, Michigan plant.
- Ensure the the project reaches all scheduled check points and benchmarks for various jobs.
- Communicate with project staff to attain updates and make changes to ensure deadlines are met.
- Maintain documentation on all maintenance and repairs for various jobs.
- The Manufacturing Engineer will acquire and analyze data on the manufacturing process. Develop job metrics and use the metrics to measurably improve the process at the Jackson, Michigan site.
- Perform research on new pieces of equipment, acquire quotes, and identify the preferable supplier.
- The Manufacturing Engineer will observe and analyze manufacturing processes. Troubleshoot safety issues and determine process-based solutions.
- Perform root cause analysis on machine and line problems.
- Identify and implement solutions for machine and line problems in the Jackson, Michigan plant.
- Document accidents and malfunctions. Report major issues to appropriate staff.
Manufacturing Engineer (Jackson Area) Job Requirements:
- A bachelor’s of science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a manufacturing related discipline is a necessity for this job.
- Two to three years of manufacturing experience; stamping, die cast, machining, or assembly engineering experience would be preferable for this job.
- Two to three years in a high volume automated manufacturing job environment.
- Training or certification in lean six sigma would be preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to use AutoCAD software.
- Able to read and interpret blueprints.
- Great computer skills, able to use Microsoft office programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook).
- Comfortable working in a team atmosphere while on the job.
- Good communication skills, written and verbal.
- Comfortable working both in an office environment and on the job floor.
