A leader in manufacturing is looking to fill the position of Manufacturing Controls Engineer. This role involves setting up and ensuring the availability of infrastructure and production equipment, collaborating with a team of Manufacturing Engineers on current and future projects, and troubleshooting production issues as they occur.
Manufacturing Controls Engineer Job Opening Responsibilities:
- Ensure availability of production equipment in accordance with company goals, including stable processes and preventive maintenance.
- Design, develop, and program manufacturing equipment and data acquisition systems, including presses, welders, test fixtures, material handling, and inspection equipment.
- Install and maintain HMIs, PLCs, automation systems, and data acquisition equipment.
- Conduct regular performance audits of manufacturing equipment and execute root cause analysis to minimize downtime.
- Optimize process parameters while justifying & documenting changes.
- Perform equipment qualification and capability studies, analyze results, and communicate the disposition of products not meeting criteria.
- Develop robust processes, ensure critical spare parts availability, and train employees.
- Define, document, and update manufacturing procedures.
- Collaborate with maintenance personnel to upgrade and/or troubleshoot equipment.
- Be responsible for maintaining machining centers, defining maintenance activities and responsibilities, performing regular preventive maintenance activities, servicing, repairing & overhauling worn machines, parts and assemblies, and monitoring and troubleshooting downtime.
- Actively question and improve the status quo, take on special projects as assigned by management, design and develop control circuits and software to increase quality and speed, and plan workflows, evaluate materials and tools, machines, electrical components, and define necessary steps for realization.
Manufacturing Controls Engineer Job Opening Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- Minimum of 8-10+ years of experience in project execution related to industrial automation and controls.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to read, troubleshoot and maintain PLC Ladder Logic and HMI Applications.
- Familiarity with Allen Bradley hardware and software and Keyence PLCs, sensors, and hardware is a plus.
- Demonstrated project management ability and knowledge of statistical process control to improve quality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD and/or Siemens Unigraphics, Microsoft SQL Server, and Rockwell Automation applications.
- Experience with SAP is preferred.
- Ability to comply with all applicable OSHA electrical and mechanical safety regulations, as well as lock-out/tag-out procedures.
- This job requires occasional foreign & domestic travel and may demand lifting up to 50 pounds.
