Our client, a privately held mid-size logistics company headquartered in New Jersey, specializes in domestic transportation (LTL/TL) and supply chain. They are seeking a General Manager to oversee their operations.
Reporting to the Owners, the General Manager will be responsible for managing the organization’s structure in the United States, including one branch office, a team of 10 employees, and a P&L of $20 million.
General Manager Job Opening Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a strategy to generate revenues, optimize costs, and maximize profitability.
- Lead sales efforts and manage the sales team, including hiring, training, and development.
- Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs) and performance metrics (KPIs) for operational excellence.
- Ensure employees are coached, trained, and managed to execute these processes.
- Negotiate and monitor rates and contracts with vendors and trucking companies.
- Establish policies and operational guidelines aligned with company goals.
- Ensure compliance with company, federal, state, and local business requirements.
- Prepare monthly reports, including file closings and budgeting.
General Manager Job Opening Background Required:
- Management experience in domestic 3PL or Truck Brokerage.
- Familiarity with multimodal transportation.
- Strong P&L management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Experience establishing SOPs and performance metrics.
- Ability to develop and implement business plans.
- Knowledge of changing markets and leveraging technology for business optimization.
- RFQ management, negotiations, and problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Location: Monmouth County, NJ.
