Detroit Dispatcher Overview:
The Detroit Dispatcher will schedule deliveries and work with drivers in the field to communicate relevant information and changes. The Detroit Dispatcher will report directly to the operations manager and oversee a staff of over twenty dispatch personnel. The Detroit Dispatcher will work with customers and drivers to keep all parties up to date with information.
Detroit Dispatcher Job Opening
- The Detroit Dispatcher will provide drivers with truck assignments.
- Check all drivers for the proper freight charge bills for their assigned trucks.
- Keep regular contact with drivers over the phone, handle all questions drivers may hae and mitigate issues.
- The Detroit Dispatcher will keep sales staff informed of daily shipping schedules in order to provide accurate dates to customers.
- Send invoices for outgoing products.
- Manage all backorders and ensure that back orders are completed.
- The Detroit Dispatch will enter order information into the computer system when other dispatch staff are unable.
- Schedule and supervise regular maintenance for all delivery and load building equipment.
- Keep records of all equipment repair costs and fuel consumed.
- The Detroit Dispatch is responsible to check that all drivers and other reports are properly certified and trained in all company policies.
- Take part in the hiring, selection, and onboarding of drivers and other personnel.
- Perform other duties as directed by the operations manager.
Dispatcher (Detroit Area) Job Requirements:
- At least five to seven years of logistics experience.
- Experience with customer service as well as dispatch.
- A high level of familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite of Programs such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team.
- Strong critical thinking skills, able to gather information, determine facts, and determine appropriate solutions.
- Understanding of Department of Transportation regulations and proper file keeping practices.
- A demonstrated understanding of proper equipment and material usage policies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to manage several projects and accounts simultaneously.
- Understanding of logistics systems and processes.
