The Mechanical Project Engineer will partner with design staff and project management staff at the Detroit, Michigan location to make sure the project results in a cost effective and brand appropriate product from the Detroit site.

- The Mechanical Project Engineer will collaborate with project staff to design and develop prototypes in greater Detroit.
- Communicate with other team members and customers to ensure that the entire team understands the customers’ needs and the steps required to meet those needs.
- The Mechanical Project Engineer will design and develop sheet metal, molded plastics, and electromechanical components.
- Work directly with customers and utilize active listening to understand the clients’ needs.
- Develop technical plans in collaboration with other members of the project staff at the Detroit, Michigan plant.
- The Mechanical Project Engineer will validate the integrity of each piece and the overall assembly of the product as the project advances.
- Meet project engineering goals and communicate any issues that may prevent reaching those goals as soon as the issues arise.
- The Mechanical Project Engineer will provide prototypes to customers to ensure their expectations and specifications have been met, working collaboratively to rectify any issues.
- Partner with electrical engineers to validate the overall assembly of products made at the Detroit plant.
- The Mechanical Project Engineer will interface with the manufacturing staff to ensure that all pieces can be manufactured at the highest quality to meet customer specifications.
Mechanical Project Engineer (Detroit Area) Job Requirements:
- Several years of job experience engineering projects with a number of different materials, particularly molded plastics, sheet metal components, and electromechanical components.
- A deep level of comfort with 3D CAD drafting software. Experience with Pro-E/Creo software would be preferred.
- A four-year degree for an accredited college or university in Engineering is required for this job.
- Exceptional communication and listening skills, in person, over the phone, and through email in order to understand customer needs.
- A team-oriented mindset, but also enough assertiveness to explain the constraints of a certain problem.
- Understanding of basic business software such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook.
- Four years of project engineering job experience.
- A demonstrated familiarity with product development and validation processes.
