- The Applications Engineer will maintain and foster relationships with automotive OEMs and the Tier one and two suppliers outside of greater Ann Arbor.
- Identify the decision makers in companies and create partnerships with them.
- The Applications Engineer will find and follow up on business opportunities by advising customers on technical solutions and giving technical support.
- Oversee the engineering functions for customers, serving as a customer advocate with staff at the greater Ann Arbor site.
- The Applications Engineer will manage specification review, development of products, design reviews, system reviews, prototyping, launches, auditing customers, and ensuring quality and warranty specifications.
- Move between several different teams, seeking out feedback and probing for information across sales, program management, quality control, logistics, and manufacturing.
- The Applications Engineer will create and deliver technical presentations and product training sessions for various customers.
- The Applications Engineer will work with customers throughout a program’s life cycle at the greater Ann Arbor to ensure their continued approval.
Applications Engineer (Ann Arbor Area) Job Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering or a related field is a plus for this Ann Arbor job.
- A minimum of two years of exposure to the bearing industry, preferably working on powertrain and chassis systems and bearing applications.
- A thorough knowledge of bearings, their design, and calculating life and contact stress.
- A deep understanding of the process in which bearings are manufactured and the related components to the process.
- Previous job experience working in a quality control role is a significant positive.
- A past position working with the North American auto industry is a necessity, and preferably some experience providing technical support for products to OEM’s and Tier one and two suppliers.
- Exceptional communication skills in writing, over the phone, and in person.
- Excellent time management skills.
- A demonstrated ability to provide tech support to stimulate business growth across a wide client base.
