We are seeking a strategic and results-oriented vice president of global sourcing to lead procurement and supply chain efforts on a global scale. This executive will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that optimize cost, enhance supplier performance, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable supply across international operations.
The vice president will report to the SVP, global operations within the global operations department.
Position Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing Leadership
- Build and execute a comprehensive sourcing strategy to expand the international vendor network, particularly in emerging markets
- Develop and own the corporate supply base strategy and roadmap
- Align sourcing strategy with corporate programs, projects, and broader organizational goals
Supplier and Partner Engagement
- Serve as a liaison to internal project teams and joint venture partners on product requirements, lifecycle issues, regulatory support, and supply chain management
- Negotiate complex supplier contracts focusing on cost, quality, efficiency, and service
Operational and Financial Impact
- Lead cost and product development initiatives in collaboration with cross-functional teams to meet margin goals
- Oversee a risk-adjusted portfolio of COGS reduction projects across operations, R&D, supply chain, and product development
Project and Team Leadership
- Drive cross-functional project teams to develop medical device products using high-quality, low-cost regional suppliers
- Build, lead, and retain a high-performing and diverse global sourcing team
Market Intelligence and Risk Management
- Monitor global supplier markets, geopolitical trends, and regulatory landscapes to proactively manage risks and identify opportunities
Supplier Quality and Compliance
- Ensure effective collaboration with supply chain and logistics to manage supplier development and surveillance focused on product reliability, quality, and cost
Joint Venture Oversight
- Engage with the JV company in China to shape and influence sourcing strategies for the China-made product line
Prerequisites
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as engineering, computer science, or physics
- 15+ years of professional experience in sourcing, manufacturing, supplier quality, or engineering roles
- 10+ years of increasing leadership experience in sourcing
- Demonstrated success in driving impactful sourcing strategies and managing global manufacturing relationships
- Deep knowledge of international labor regulatory standards and supplier performance frameworks
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and decision-making skills
- Strong financial and business acumen and a data-driven, KPI-led leadership approach
- Experience with ERP and procurement systems
- Ability to manage multi-country teams and vendors across time zones
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required
Certifications (Preferred, but Not Required)
- Master’s degree or other advanced degree
- Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent certifications
What the Role Offers
- Salary range: $250,000 – $300,000
- Perm fee: 25%
