Our client is seeking a creative, data-driven, and product-savvy Category Manager with a strong pulse on the U.S. furniture market and deep knowledge of consumer behavior. This role is ideal for someone who not only understands how furniture products are made—but why people love them. You’ll be responsible for leading full-cycle category strategy across selected home furniture segments like garage organization, kitchen storage, bedroom furniture, sofas, and outdoor products. With a direct hand in product planning, development, and go-to-market execution, you’ll work across both domestic and international teams to deliver innovative and commercially successful furniture solutions.
Position Responsibilities
- Lead product category strategy and development across one or more of the following segments: garage, kitchen, bedroom, sofa/living room, outdoor.
- Conduct ongoing market, trend, and competitive analysis (both in-store and digital) to identify high-opportunity products.
- Guide product assortment planning with a deep understanding of what resonates with the end consumer—and why.
- Partner with R&D, factories, design, and marketing to bring high-demand products from concept to market.
- Coordinate with U.S. and China-based teams on sourcing, pricing, timelines, and quality control.
- Hire and manage Product Managers within each assigned category, fostering ownership and accountability.
- Present data-backed insights, trend opportunities, and product roadmaps to leadership.
- Oversee pricing strategy, margin optimization, and inventory turnover performance.
- Ensure category P&L success and compliance with all regulatory and retailer-specific requirements.
Prerequisites
- Minimum 5 years of experience in furniture category management or product development
- Deep product intuition with the ability to translate market signals into successful products
- Hands-on experience across furniture construction, sourcing, and consumer research
- Proven track record in competitive pricing, margin control, and merchandising strategy
- Strong understanding of supply chain, vendor partnerships, and international sourcing (China preferred)
- Exceptional communication skills and comfort working across cross-border teams
- Proficient in Excel and data/planning tools related to forecasting and lifecycle management
What the Roles Offers
